SXSW Sketch Notes

No, I’m not the first person to come up with this idea, but hey, I’ve been doing it in classrooms all my life, so why not take it to South By? So here’s my first attempt at conference sketch notes. They’re not quite as schmancy as they could be, and I often stopped to listen when I could’ve been drawing, but whatever.

I enjoyed myself again at South By this year, though I think there was a dearth of good panels for designers this time around. Oh well, I guess that’s what happens when all the trends are leading towards social networking and web applications. Maybe if I go back next year I can be re-inspired to draw more.

Ironically, the only panel I attended that failed to produce any sketch notes was the designer-friendly “Design Eye for South By” panel. Maybe it was my ill-positioned seat near Jeff Croft that made it difficult, or maybe it was the lack of any real content in their presentation, but I just sat and enjoyed the show on that one.

Anyway, without further adieu, here are my notes, in a Flickr-ized slideshow.
